Here are some tips for road safety throughout Longmeadow from Cloot’s Auto Body. We want people to stay safe while driving this winter. Each year brings us damaged vehicles along with some pretty bad stories about what can happen while driving in icy or snowy conditions. Cloot’s Auto Body has put together a list of drivers tips for road safety throughout Longmeadow:

When planning a trip, always check the weather report and road conditions to your destination. If you know what to expect you can make a sound decision whether or not to reschedule your plans if the situation may become dangerous.

Always keep extra blankets, coats and snow boots in your car or trunk. You may have to wait for roadside assistance during a storm. Running the heat can sometimes be dangerous with the risk of carbon monoxide. And being out in the storm with other driver’s visibility diminished is not a good idea. So after calling for help, stay warm and safe inside your car until help comes.

Always have your headlights on during any situation with lowered visibility, even during the day.
Tune your radio station to keep updated with any news about the weather and driving conditions. This will help you determine if you should continue, change routes or turn back and wait for the road to clear.

Never overestimate your abilities to drive in bad weather. Even if you have taken all precautions and have a vehicle designed for the bad weather, another driver on the road can still cause problems for you. So take that into consideration before heading out in bad weather.
